Concrete Glossary

Cold Weather Concreting

Cold weather concreting refers to the precautions taken when concrete is placed and air temperatures are expected to fall below about 40°F within the curing period. Freezing before concrete gains sufficient strength can permanently damage it. Common measures include heated enclosures, insulating blankets, higher cement content mixes, and accelerating admixtures.
