Dead Load

Dead load is the permanent, unchanging weight of a structure itself — its concrete, steel, fixed mechanical equipment, and finishes — as opposed to live load, which varies with occupancy and use. Dead load is typically the easier of the two to calculate precisely, since it doesn't change over time.
