Dry-Rodded Unit Weight

Dry-rodded unit weight is the compacted density of a coarse aggregate, measured by rodding it into a container in standardized layers. It reflects how tightly a given aggregate packs together, which varies by particle shape and gradation.

Mix-design methods such as ACI 211 use dry-rodded unit weight alongside the aggregate's dry-rodded volume factor to calculate how much coarse aggregate, by weight, a cubic yard of concrete needs.
