Optimum Moisture Content

Optimum moisture content is the specific water content at which a given soil, under a defined compactive effort, reaches its maximum practical density — identified from the peak of a Proctor compaction curve. Compacting fill too wet or too dry of this point results in lower density and reduced bearing capacity.
