Outfall

An outfall is the point where a stormwater conveyance system — a pipe, ditch, or channel — discharges into a receiving water body such as a stream, pond, or wetland. Outfalls are common inspection and monitoring points under NPDES permits since they represent the last opportunity to catch a pollution problem before it reaches natural waters.
