Pozzolan

A pozzolan is a siliceous or aluminosiliceous material that, on its own, has little or no cementing value, but reacts chemically with calcium hydroxide released during cement hydration to form additional strength-giving compounds. Fly ash and silica fume are the two most common pozzolans used in modern concrete.
