Rebound Hammer (Schmidt Hammer)

A rebound hammer (often called a Schmidt hammer) is a hand-held, non-destructive test device that fires a spring-loaded plunger against a concrete surface and measures how far it rebounds. Rebound distance correlates roughly with surface hardness and, through a calibration curve, estimated compressive strength — useful for quick field comparisons, though less precise than a cylinder break.
