Retarder (Admixture)

A retarder is an admixture that slows the setting time of concrete, giving crews more working time before the mix stiffens. Retarders are common in hot weather (which naturally speeds set time), on long truck hauls, and on large pours where the last load needs to still be workable when it arrives.
