Concrete Glossary

Segregation

Segregation is the separation of coarse aggregate from the surrounding cement paste and fines within a concrete mix, usually caused by excessive dropping height, over-vibration, overly wet mixes, or improper pumping. Segregated concrete has inconsistent strength and is prone to honeycombing.
