Total Suspended Solids (TSS)

Total Suspended Solids (TSS) measures the mass of solid particles suspended in a water sample, typically reported in milligrams per liter. TSS is a primary metric for stormwater discharge quality — high TSS is a strong indicator that sediment or washout material is reaching a drainage system, which is why containment BMPs are targeted specifically at keeping it low.
