Trench Box

A trench box (or trench shield) is a prefabricated steel or aluminum structure lowered into an excavation to protect workers from a cave-in, as required by OSHA for most trenches over five feet deep. Unlike shoring, a trench box protects the excavation without bracing its walls directly.
