Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV)

Ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) testing sends a sound pulse through a concrete member and measures how fast it travels from a transmitter to a receiver on the opposite (or same) face. Denser, higher-quality concrete transmits sound faster, so UPV is used to estimate relative concrete quality, detect internal voids or cracks, and evaluate uniformity — all without damaging the structure.
