Vapor Barrier (Under-Slab)

An under-slab vapor barrier is a plastic sheet — typically 10-mil polyethylene or a purpose-made vapor retarder membrane — placed directly beneath a slab-on-grade to block soil moisture from migrating up through the concrete, which can otherwise damage moisture-sensitive flooring or coatings applied later.
