Well Point (Dewatering)

A well point is a small-diameter shallow well, screened at the bottom, connected to a header pipe and vacuum pump. Well points are installed in rows around an excavation to lower the surrounding groundwater table temporarily, keeping a foundation, utility trench, or basement excavation dry enough to work in.
