Zero-slump concrete is a very dry, stiff mix with little to no measurable slump — the opposite end of the workability spectrum from a typical flatwork pour. It's used where high early strength or immediate load-bearing is needed without formwork support, such as precast products, pervious concrete, and roller-compacted concrete (RCC) used in heavy-civil paving and parking lots.
Because it's so dry, zero-slump concrete is placed and compacted with specialized equipment — pavers, rollers, or vibratory tampers — rather than poured and screeded like conventional flatwork.
